This Tiny Mailbox Moment Changed How I See Myself
Nov 12, 2025
The other day, my daughter handed me a little envelope.
Not a real one—one she’d made herself.
She had drawn the stamps, written my name on the front, and then told me with absolute urgency:
“Mummy! Go get it from the letterbox!”
So of course, I played along.
I ran outside as if I were retrieving the most exciting letter I’d ever received.
(And honestly… it might’ve been.)
Inside was a picture of me.
Again.
Lately, I’ve been showing up everywhere in her little handmade artworks—me with big hair, me holding her hand, me smiling like the sun. Her version of my story, scribbled in bright, wobbly colours.
And every time she draws me, something sparks in my chest.
Not because the drawings are flattering (they’re… not 😂).
But because for a moment, I get to see myself through her eyes.
Her world.
Her perspective.
Her story.
And it is the kindest, most generous version of me I’ve ever encountered.
It made me think about how we see ourselves as grown women—and the stories we carry about who we are and who we should be.
From childhood, we’re handed a script:
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
As if we’re not already something.
As if our value is tied to becoming, not being.
So we grow into adulthood still feeling unfinished.
Still wondering:
“What do I want to be?”
“Have I done enough?”
“Is my story important enough to share?”
The women I work with—brilliant, capable, heart-led entrepreneurs—ask these questions all the time.
Even when they’re already changing people’s lives.
They wait to “become” someone before they speak up.
They believe someone else’s story is more inspiring, more impactful, more valid.
But here it is—the truth we forget:
You’ve already arrived.
Exactly as you are.
In the messy middle.
Holding lived experience, insight, and truth that someone else desperately needs.
The story you carry today is worthy.
The version of you that exists right now—brilliant and imperfect—is enough.
You don’t need to wait.
You don’t need to earn your voice.
You don’t need to be more polished, more qualified, more “ready.”
You just need to speak from where you are.
Because tomorrow’s version of you?
She’ll tell the story differently.
But today’s story is meant for today’s audience.
So don’t wait for your story to feel Instagram-worthy.
Don’t wait to feel like your sparkle is big enough or your impact is impressive enough.
The little girl you once were—the one who believed in her own magic without hesitation—she’s still in there.
Waiting for you to remember:
“Yes. I am already enough.”
With love,
Casey
