The Stage Isn’t a Sales Pitch: Why Integrity Matters More Than Hype
Feb 20, 2025The stage lights came up, and the first speaker stepped forward.
I had been waiting for this event for months—an event created for young entrepreneurs, featuring a lineup of “inspiring” speakers. At 29, I was starry-eyed, full of ambition, and hoping to turn my coaching dreams into something bigger.
But as the day unfolded, something became painfully clear.
One by one, the speakers took the stage…
And one by one, they followed the exact same script.
They weren’t there to serve the audience.
They weren’t there to teach or inspire.
They were there to sell.
Every talk ended the same way:
“Run to the back of the room NOW to get this exclusive offer!”
And people did.
I watched as hopeful, eager attendees—many searching for a quick fix, a lifeline, a shortcut—rushed to hand over their money. And I couldn’t help but wonder:
Would they regret it tomorrow?
Would they feel misled?
Would they realise they had been pitched, not taught?
My heart sank.
I felt cheated.
I hadn’t come to this room to be sold to.
I had come to learn. To grow. To be inspired.
And in that moment, something shifted in me.
💡 I decided I wanted to do things differently.
Because here’s the truth:
✨ The stage is a place of power. But with great power comes great responsibility.
The best speakers—the ones who leave a lasting mark—don’t see the stage as a sales platform.
They see it as a place to serve.
A place where value is given freely.
A place where stories open hearts, not wallets.
A place where transformation, not transactions, is the priority.
These speakers don’t pressure.
They don’t manipulate.
They don’t create urgency out of fear.
They create impact through truth, generosity, and integrity.
And they elevate every room they walk into.
So let’s change the status quo.
Let’s raise the bar.
Let’s fill stages with people who genuinely want to help and uplift others.
Because the stage isn’t about ego.
It’s about impact.
And when you lead with integrity, people don’t just listen—they trust you.
Have you ever sat through a “sleazy sales speaker”?
I’d genuinely love to hear your experience. Hit reply and share your thoughts.
