Why Your Signature Story Needs Editing Magic (Just Like a Movie Trailer)

Do you like movies?

I’m a total movie buff. And fun fact—before I ever stepped into the world of speaking and storytelling, I actually worked on TV shows and films.

Here’s an even wilder fact:

My husband and I went to primary school together…
and years later, he reconnected with me after seeing my name up in lights at a short film festival.

(Yes, it’s as romantic as it sounds. 😂)

But I digress.

There was a time when I thought I wanted to edit movie trailers.
If you’ve seen the film The Holiday, that’s the job Cameron Diaz’s character has—and I was obsessed with the idea.

I even created a trailer once for a film about my undergrad course, and it was SO much fun.

And here’s what I loved most about it:

🎬 Choosing the best moments to highlight
🎬 Creating emotional connection quickly
🎬 And leaving people wanting more—so much so that they head to the cinema to watch the full movie

And somewhere along the way, I realised…
